Guwahati to Shillong Taxi & Cab Service
One-way and round-trip cab service from Guwahati to Shillong. Sedan, Innova Crysta, Tempo Traveller and Urbania with experienced hill-road drivers.
The Guwahati–Shillong route
It's about 100 km on NH6, and most trips take 3 to 3.5 hours, sometimes a bit more if you hit traffic leaving Guwahati. That's really the only variable that matters — once you're past the city and into Nongpoh, the road opens up and the hill section into Shillong is manageable even with a full car.
If you can manage a 5 or 6 AM start, do it. You'll be through Guwahati before the traffic builds and into Shillong with most of your day still free.
You don't have to book both ways. Plenty of people just want the drop and sort their return separately, that's fine, you pay for the one leg. If you know your return date already, tell us and we'll set the whole trip up together.
- ~100 km via NH6 — 3 to 3.5 hours drive
- 5–6 AM start recommended to beat Guwahati traffic
- One-way and round-trip options available
- Experienced hill-road drivers
Which car makes sense
If it's two or three of you with normal luggage, just take the sedan (Dzire or Aura). No reason to pay more for a bigger car you won't use. Once you're four to six people, or you've got a lot of bags, the Innova Crysta is worth it, more boot space and it sits higher, so the hill turns feel less rough.
For anything past eight people, we put you in a Tempo Traveller, seats up to 26 depending on the group, or occasionally a Force Urbania if that's what's available that day.
Guwahati to Shillong fare
Indicative one-way fares. Toll, parking and driver allowance are additional. Ask us for the final number before you book.
| Vehicle | Passengers | One-Way Fare |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan (Dzire / Aura) | 2–3 | ₹2,500 – ₹3,500 |
| Innova Crysta | 4–6 | ₹5,500 – ₹7,000 |
| Tempo Traveller | 8–12 | ₹7,500 – ₹8,500 |
| Force Urbania | 8–16 | ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 |
None of that includes toll, parking, or the driver's allowance — those get added on top, so ask us for the final number before you book instead of going by this range alone.
When to travel
Morning is just better on this route, 5 to 7 AM ideally. You avoid Guwahati traffic and you're not driving the Ghat section in the dark. During monsoon, June through September, try to avoid leaving in the evening specifically, the rain and fog on that hill stretch make it a slower, more cautious drive than usual.
Winter's nice too, clear skies most days, though early mornings can be foggy so give yourself a little extra time. Summer, March to May, tends to be the easiest overall, traffic's lighter than peak season and the weather doesn't really get in the way.
